Edward Moody Community Room
The Edward Moody Community Room, the Mechanicsville Library meeting room, seats 65 persons and is available for community meetings. See Meeting Room Policies & Guidelines for details on reserving meeting facilities at the Mechanicsville Library or any other AFPLS meeting space.

Edward Moody (1922-1984), a leader and activist in the Mechanicsville community who grew up in Atlanta's Carrie Steele Pitts Orphanage, was one of the founders of the Southside Day Care Center, now known as Southside Child Development, Inc. He was a founder of Model Cities, Inc., the first neighborhood-based organization in Mechanicsville; and of Mechanicsville Civic League, now known as the Mechanicsville Civic Association. Moody also started a moving company and a manufacturing company, both of which employed community residents.
